I would like to share my experience on choosing baby's name of mine. I have two children who are Nurul Iman and Muhammad Al-Amin. The first thing to ponder is an arabic name which gives good meaning. My preferences are classic and easy name. Plus, the short name must in two two syllables.
Why Nurul Iman??
I have 'Nurul' in my full name, so, it is a must to include 'Nurul' in my daughter's name too. While 'Iman' is a very meaningful arabic name and yet, it is so simple and contains only two syllables. Instead of that, I hope by calling Iman oftenly, it will be a prayer for us to be a good Muslims.
Why Muhammad Al-Amin??
As usual my husband's name consist 'Muhammad', therefore my son's name must have that name too. Muhammad is our beloved Prophet and definitely is our ultimate idol. Al-Amin means the trust, which is reliable, the mandate. Plus, Amiin is vice versa of Iman. We also hope this name is a prayer for our son to take the mandate to take care of siblings and the family later.
